Worship

Server:

Someone who assists the priest at the altar during communion.

Crucifer:

Someone who carries the cross to lead the priest, server, and choir in the processional and the recessional, and to process the gospel reader.

Sidesperson/Greeter:

Someone who welcomes parishioners and guests to the worship service or church event, hands out bulletins, directs guests to sign the guestbook, and makes people feel at home.

Prayers of the People:

Someone who prepares prayers and leads the congregation in prayer.

Reader:

Someone who reads the scripture readings assigned for the worship service.

Chalicebearer:

Someone who offers the wine in the chalice to communicants.

Lay Officiant: 

Someone who is trained to officiate services of the word; Morning or Evening Prayer or other services where there is no Eucharist.

Note: Training and mentorship will be provided for all of these roles.
